Ten Maintenance Tasks for a Wet-Location Hand Lamp

A wet-location hand lamp can bring light beside equipment where general lighting leaves shadows. The examples below describe working positions, not approvals: each task still requires the exact lamp, supply and exposure rating to be suitable.

Close equipment checks

1. Inspecting a pump's accessible connections in a nonclassified service area. 2. Reading labels behind machinery after the required isolation. 3. Lighting the underside of a conveyor during a permitted maintenance stop. 4. Examining a valve or fitting inside a sheltered equipment space.

Repairs around a building

5. Lighting a service bench away from a fixed task light. 6. Checking accessible plumbing in a damp maintenance room. 7. Performing close work beneath an installation during construction. 8. Inspecting equipment inside a nonclassified utility enclosure, where the lamp and connections suit the conditions.

Mobile support tasks

9. Lighting a vehicle or equipment repair position from an approved support. 10. Checking tools and connections at a temporary crew workstation. Route the cord so it does not obstruct access or contact moving equipment and hot surfaces.

Know the limits of the name

Vapor-proof does not mean approved for flammable vapor, grain dust, underground mining or underwater work. Check wet-location/IP instructions and chemical compatibility separately from hazardous-location approval. Tanks and confined spaces can also require entry controls and a different electrical arrangement.

Compare baladeuses étanches à la vapeur and their documented configurations before choosing the length and supply for the job.
